2016 goals #1
I recently read somewhere that documenting your goals can help you achieve them. So let's talk about goals for 2016. Don't think of this as new year's resolution, because those are a joke and everyone breaks them. This is about your actual goals for what you want to accomplish in 2016.

I have 2 main goals, one is to complete and pass the CISSP exam, and the other is to improve health and fitness level. Specifically I'm looking to lose 50-100lbs.

How about you?

There is a difference between documenting your goals, and sharing your goals. Sharing your goals may actually reduce your likelihood of completing them - check out this short TED talk on the subject

Improving fitness and health is great! I was 155lbs (not much muscle), but in only about 2 months (aggressive running, less eating), I lost 20 pounds (much more, lean muscle). If you ever need any guidance/encouragement, I'd be happy to help. Smile

It may sound kind of weird, but this year, one of my goals is:
To hike in the wilderness for about a week with not much food. (I would gather it)
I have other goals too...
Keep running and biking, and be great at it.
Enter cross-country, and be great at it.
Get better at programming/technology.

There is some truth here, but it is definitely not the deciding factor.

and thats why I used words like "may" and "reduce" instead of words like "will" and "eliminate"... at no point did anyone say that if you share your goals, that you will have no chance of completing them.

I want to lose more weight as I've put a bit back on since becoming skinny and to maintain myself at a healthy physique/build.

I also want to stop being a bum and spending all my money all the time. Time to start being an adult and get saving for the future.

When I was younger I used to blow my paycheck every 2 weeks on the day I got paid. Then shortly after my friends and I would always bitch and complain about being broke and having no money. Then one day, I decided to put $100 in the bank instead of cashing the entire check. We went our normal business (friends and I) and as usual, we had no money by the end of the day and we were all broke again. Then it dawned on me that I still had that $100 in the bank, and that felt good, so I did it again the next paycheck, and again, and again, you get the point.

Try that and see how it goes. Even if you can only spare $50, try it.

That's what I'm planning on. I mean I spent easily $1000 since coming home (a week ago). Should of saved some, it pisses me off. That's what I'm focusing on this year, then at the year I should have enough money to buy myself a van and cover all the costs of running it.
