I've been getting more into Xplane 10... but It would be fun to have some people to setup ATC and stuff with. I'd go online, but its much to serious there.

What are you trying to do practice to become a pilot?. If so the best thing for you to do is to go to flight school and use real simulators where it is setup just like an actual plane.

I do kind of want to get a personal/private small plane but I think i'm better off on the ground considering all the plane crashes and planes getting shot down lately.

Flight school is expensive as all hell. Of course the best thing to do is go to flight school if you want to become a pilot, that's required to get your pilot's license.

Let's also give the same consideration to all the successful plane take offs and landings, and planes that are NOT shot down every day.


I used to get down on MS Flight Sim 98 and also MS Combat Flight Sim. They were both cool. I used to download custom plane packages, had an X Wing and a space shuttle, it was neat.

Flying is just not as safe anymore.

It seems at first flying was awful due to lack of technology, then flying improved and it was good and now flying is getting more and more risky as time goes on.

No. Just a hobby. While there is a flight school near me, I cant afford it.

There's a better than decent chance that the estimate is VFR only as well (Visual Flight Rules), meaning you can only fly when visibility is at a certain level. No cloudy day flights.


Obviously a flight sim is much easier than all that noise, especially if you're not sure you actually want to be a pilot, and would just rather enjoy an evening "flying" from the comfort of your own home.

There was one I can't remember but it involved a space plane, it was called orbiter or something, I absolutely loved that one! I play a lot of space sims but not many flight sims, might give it a go now my PC is more powerful.
