Not saying some police aren't racist. Of course they are, we all fucking know. Racism is shitty, yeah, and so is stereotyping. I didn't call them the same thing. What's your point?

And no, not a privileged white teen.

My point is that you're missing the point. Stereotyping police officers is not the real issue at hand here. And we know that not only individuals but departments as a whole have perpetuated systemic racial discrimination (Read the Department of Justice report on Furgeson). The problem is not just a few bad apples, it's the system as a whole.

Also, which part of "privileged white teen" are you not? Just interested because that's the impression you give off, as it's typically not impoverished black youth defending law enforcement (for obvious reasons).

The system is pretty shitty. How's calling cops donut eaters on the internet gonna fix that? It's not only blacks that are discriminated against either. Pretty much every minority has a shitty time, but you only ever hear about the black guys that were shot.

EDIT: No, not an impoverished black teen either.

To be honest I think people go into the cop force with the wrong mind set and when it turns out to be not shooting bad guys and saving the day all the time, they take any opportunity they have to shoot someone.

It's not, never said it was. This conversion as a whole wont affect anything but it's worth having nevertheless.

The only other race/ethnicity that you could include would be latinos, but even still, their proportional arrest/incarceration rates are not as bad as the ones for African Americans. Other than that... no, what you're saying is completely false. Feel free to prove me wrong otherwise with information that comes from somewhere other than your ass.

Do you think there is a reason why you "only ever hear about the black guys that were shot"? Do you also think there is a reason why you "never hear about white guys that were shot"? Maybe, just maybe, one is happening at a disproportional rate, while the other isn't?

Lol of course you aren't. I said the opposite... idk why you think I implied that. I will take your lack of response to my actual question as "lol ok u caught me i am a well off teenager who's not black".

Arrest and incarceration isn't all that discrimination is. And you answered your own question. The reason you don't hear about other minorities is because they're minorities...

Take my lack of response as you wish.

Ok sorry I guess I needed to be more specific. I only said the arrest and incarceration rates because those I am sure of (I looked them up previously for a research paper). Feel free to look at unarmed deaths at the hands of police, or being stopped by police. I can say with little doubt that these numbers will probably show a similar trend, but once again I have not looked at them personally.

If you want a specific case of discrimination supported by statistics that do not include arrest/incarceration, take a look at NYC's stop and frisk: http://www.nyclu.org/content/stop-and-frisk-data

The numbers represent exactly what I was talking about earlier.

About 13.2% of the US population is Black alone. About 37% of the prison population is also black.

I don't think racism is as present as the media makes it seem, but it's very apparent there's some with those statistics. I'm not stating it's the judges or the police necessarily, but it's an idea worth considering.
