Hey,

if I want to end up knowing both languages, C# and C++, which one should I tackle first?

Both of them have features I like:
For C# this would be LINQ, Universal Apps, Unity3D support, XNA, good Documentation etc. and for C++: I like its cross-platform potential (I know there is Mono for C#, but still), Qt, its relatively low-levelness...

So people tell me different things when it comes down to choose which of those should be learned first.
Some say: "Go for C++ first, if you manage to learn it, every language else will be a breeze. It will be like walking down the hill."
Mostly because I will know about memory management, Pointers, etc.

But others say it exactly the other way around.
They tell me that C++ is outdated, complex and complicated and that it has a very steep learning curve, which can lead to people quit learning it, because they get lost.
They say I should consider C# first, as it is slightly easier to learn and I will get used to programming much faster and can learn C++ afterwards.

So what do you guys think?

edit: I want to make some general (GUI-)Application Development and maybe some 2D Gaming.
Something like tic, tac, toe, nothing fancy.

c++ if you want to learn how to manage memory and create way better things than c# could ever make, also learn it if you don't want to be called a fag

C++ is better, C# is limit, i just don't like the C#, i rather choose .net than c#, is the same but change name and command, nothing else
about 60% game coded by C++, you can create your own library, make thing work better and is like limitless, vote for C++
