So, I got spammed by Steam Machine ads in the update news on Steam. I'm really interested in the controllers, and the variety of Steam Machines looks extremely diverse. What are your opinions on it?

I'm in no need for a steam machine. The streaming box thing looks more interesting imo.

I like the idea of steam machines, just I don't think they'll catch on too well. They're too expensive for what they are. When you build a PC for gaming, you get a PC + a gaming platform. But with a steam machine you're paying similar prices, and only getting a gaming plat form and even then, the support for said gaming platform isn't quiet there yet; it's not very good.

The controllers seem interesting, I like the idea of the track pad on them. That will help a lot of devs make their games compatible with the controller.

What I see working better is LAN Streaming. This has already been experimented with and I think in a few years it will be the best way to play games in your living room, bigger screen, what ever the reason for you buying a steam machine was.

Tbh, the net positive to the whole steam machine thing is that more games will be coming to loonix meaning that, hopefully, windows and directx will loose market dominance.

Steam Machines are nice, I guess. I was going to cop the Steam OS but there was something that I didn't like about it. I forgot what it was though. My computer is already a lot of times better than those entry level Steam Machines. In a matter of fact, my GPUs alone cost more than the Steam Machines. Shoutout to the carders selling cards.

My laptop has better specs than any of the Steam machines, I'd assume. I'd never use Steam OS either. Nothing against Valve, just don't see the point. Will continue to use Steam.

The only advantage with SteamOS I can see is if it actually runs better than Windows.

However, not so sure that will happen considering that it's in beta.
