My new knife #1
Well I ended up giving my Schrade SCHF36 away and ended up getting another one because I liked it so much so I did the process over.

1. Stripped with Klean Strip and Rinsed
2. Sanded imperfections/left over coating
3. Cleaned the blade with a SOS pad
4. Did a Patina with yellow mustard dabbed on with paper towel
5. Rinsed and scrubbed with a sponge then soaked it in veggie oil for a few minutes

I really like it and the fact that this knife is only $35 shipped made almost a quarter inch thick with 1095 HC Steel is amazing it will be almost impossible to break this knife under normal use conditions and even beating the crap out of it and breaking it would be hard.

I ordered mine from Knife-Depot but it is all over if you can find them in stock so if anyone is interested you can get it at http://www.knife-depot.com/knife-502342.html or places like Amazon.

I also did some re-organizing and changes to my actual survival kit I may or may not post a thread sharing the changes because it seems like only a few people here are interested in survival/preparing.

RE: My new knife #2
I thought it was a CS:GO knife aha.

RE: My new knife #3
I always wanted a really nice knife, but I really can't justify spending that amount of money when it will literally get stashed in a drawer for me to never see again...

RE: My new knife #4
Affordable knife. I bet the grip feels nice.

$35 1095 Carbon Steel is very affordable and the chances of breaking this knife is slim it could very well last a lifetime if taken care of and it is backed by a lifetime warranty as well.

For the price range and being high quality you cannot beat Schrade when it comes to full-tang knives.

Sure there is better knives out there when it comes to ergonomics and design (strength being about the same) but they are well over $90.

The grip is nice but I will be honest with you the gimping on the bottom part of the handle can get a little uncomfortable with chopping but this knife is really not a chopper even though it can do it, its big brother the SCHF37 is the chopper.

My first SCHF36 that I gave away was field tested and held up with no failure, chipping or excessive dulling, this one has only took a few bites into wood, I don't see the point in doing it around my house because all the wood around is dead or very light and I already know what the knife is capable of so I will just go ahead and use it as my primary with no worries.

Some old United Boker Germany knife my dad gave me a while ago.

No clue what the technical specs are but the grip is some kind of boneish material that works perfectly and god damn, can this thing hold an edge.
It's often the outcasts, the iconoclasts ... those who have the least to lose because they
don't have much in the first place, who feel the new currents and ride them the farthest.

There was so many of those knives mass produced now days its hard to tell them apart from genuine old ones unless you look for actual aging, date, etc.

If that is modern it is most likely staglon which is pretty much plastic handles.

Taylor Brands which owns Schrade, Uncle Henry, Old Timer, Imperial, etc makes similar knives under the Uncle Henry name.

They are absolutely nothing like they used to be if you get a genuine 1800s to 1900s pocket knife keep it, use it and never get rid of it. The steels have changed, the quality is not as good.

It is sad but true, nobody makes things as strong, good and reliable as they use to back in the olden days. Everything was forged and hand made.

Now days its milled, lazer cut, etc which sure it gives it a more precision grind but it just takes the heart and soul away from the product.

@lux now it is field tested and held up just fine. No edge roll, no chipping, no excessive dulling.
