RE: Help with a film project? #11
Okay, here's the problem I see with this.

Your "virus" that is supposedly the AI?
Can't exactly happen like that.
It would imply that every other computer in the world has enough processing power to run it, which is nowhere close to true.
Short of a botnet-esque controlling other computers type scheme, without having the same hardware he has, (which would be horrendously expensive, given unless you're planning to do a "oh but this is the future" cliché) it couldn't run itself on other computers.
And if you go with the botnet-esque story,
Mufti unplugs the router, takes battery out of laptop.
The world is saved!

Focus on mise-en-scene and other elements in the room. Change up the shot to show fear and panic, maybe Mufti scrambles around his room looking for something to combat this.

You need to be passionate about your film, and from what I can see you're not, you're looking for other people's ideas to try and integrate them into something of your own. GL.

From how you write I can see that you know film pretty well Smile

I am passionate about this, and I'm not going to show just over-the-shoulder shots with screens. I am going to use different shots and I am going to play with the emotions. But that is exclusively me and my crew's business, that is why I'm not sharing any of it.

What I'm asking here is how I should play the 'battle' scene, since I do not know hacking very well. I don't know what type of 'attacks' and 'defenses' (just play along) I can actually integrate to this film. The 'ideas' I'm looking for is limited to such 'attacks' and 'defenses'. I already have the emotional graphs I'm trying to execute, I just don't know how I can execute them.

Thanks though! Smile

I think you haven't read the full storyline yet...
The AI turned itself to a virus.
The virus didn't reach the Internet.
The router is outside the room, and
The AI is NOT in Mufti's laptop.

Please read the first post of this thread, I've explained the plot clearly there.

Then 127.0.0.1 or whatever it is into the router, and block connections from whatever PC the damn things on instead of unplug it. You can block LAN connection too yanno.
So are you saying that Marc 2 had made two viruses? One to replicate itself, and the wipe out humanity one? Cos that's not really explained.

Mufti did cut MARC II off. But I guess MARC II can force unblock itself? At least into a LAN connection.
The 'tool to wipe out humanity' is MARC II itself. It converted itself into a virus which he will upload and enables it to control every single piece of technology in the world. But since it can't even reach the Internet I suppose the film won't reveal that things will crash once the virus started lol. Forgive me for not explaining this one.

Cutting off from the internet, and cutting off from the network are two different things.
Change WiFi pass, boot off Marc 2, block connections from that MAC address. Enable Marc 1's control, use it to turn away power from whatever outlet Marc 2 is plugged into.

You're making this kinda unrealistic.

Hmm... Is there a way so that MARC II can force itself in the LAN and secures its connection? It'll be needed for the plot to actually continue.
MARC II can figure out WiFi passwords, even if changed.
And oh, you can't boot off MARC II. It has disconnected any kind of input, be it keyboard or mouse. And only MARC II can control the room, since the wires connecting room was connected to a PC, which contains solely, MARC II. You can't access the room from any other ports.

Well, I know I'll eventually make things up. That's why I'm asking help here, to make sure that everything stays realistic.

If a computer (I.e) Marc 2 is able to connect to doors and lights and shit, they need to be on the network.
And I'm saying boot it off the network, kick its connection. Make it reattempt to connect. And realistically it would have to crack the WiFi password which takes time. That time would be used to take control with Marc 1, since Marc 2 is cut off from the network, and turn off Marc 2.

As far as forcing LAN connection. Eh kinda not really maybe. Sure it could connect, but if everything else is refusing its connections, it wouldn't really be a part of the network.

Ah, so that's what you mean by network. The room controlling network is a wired LAN, without Internet connection whatsoever. It can only be accessed in one port, and said port is connected solely to the PC which homes MARC II.
The WiFi, on the other hand, is used in the whole house for Internet connection. So you see, there's 2 different networks going on here. This WiFi is what will be used as an 'area' where they battle.

I'd recommend focusing more on the emotions and actions, and not so much on what's technically happening. Get a basis story for the 'battle' and try to keep it realistic, but throw in whatever to make it interesting.

Well, that is actually against what I'm about to do. It's the technical stuff that I want to portray as the battle, and said technical battle is what will cause the intensity. I intend to create a new kind of conflict, and this is what I'm thinking of.

Regarding of how I will execute this, you'll just have to trust it with me and my crew. We'll make it both interesting and focusing on technical stuff, but like I said, it's purely my business. Thanks again though,! [/i]
