The threat posed by the torrent tracking site includes malware infections and data breaches coming from fake torrents and could be particularly damaging to companies and organisations whose employees use the site.

News that The Pirate Bay's return will be in a limited format due to staff cutbacks could also potentially put users at risk due a smaller amount of admins moderating the site.

WTC-SWE, a lead admin of The Pirate Bay, has said that those in control of the site's domain, thepiratebay.se, had let go staff in an effort to slim down the site. Such measures, however, are likely to cause more security risks for users, according to WTC-SWE. "It was until some d***head decided to take TPB crew out of the picture," WTC-SWE told Torrent Freak. "He thinks a site can be run without any staff at all and at the same time keeping up with fakes, internal issues, etc."

While waiting for Piratebay to come back I started using kickass.so a lot more and I honestly prefer it to the Piratebay now. For anime I also found that nyaa.se was a lot better than both Kickass and Piratebay.

I'm a demonoid user myself. Kickass is pretty good too, but I been missing TPB. They're usually my first stop.

They were down for a good while (I want to say a year or more) but in true-to-them fashion, they've returned as well.

Needless to say, TPB has had a lot of publicity and unwanted attention from the authorities. I'll be staying away for a while.
