Following on from the 4/20 day thread (http://chitnchat.net/showthread.php?tid=258), I want to know what your opinion is; should marijuana be legalized or remain illegal?

I one-hundred percent think that Marijuana should be legal. One of the only reasons that it is not is because the government would lose out when it comes to the financial aspect of things. Also, Marijuana has been said to help with certain ailments where nothing else has provided relief, and if everybody could take Marijuana for their ailments, the drug industry will plummet, and then they wouldn't be able to make as much money of of our illness as they already do.

I uses Marijuana as medicine, and I'm some "testing" stuff in my country, so I'm allowed to smoke it.
But yeah, 100 procents.

It'd have to be subscription only or something though, right? It messes up a lot of lives for the people who use it daily.

For me I don't see any reason why Marijuana shouldn't be legal. When you stop to think about it there are other substances that can do just as much damage to individuals that are legalized. Look at alcohol for example, this can also be an addictive substance, but go into any convenience store, grocery store or drug store and you'll find it on the shelves. Then there are some prescription pain killers that can also be highly addictive. If these can be legal to get why not Marijuana. Especially for medical use, since its been proven that this plant has been beneficial to those with Glaucoma, and those having chemotherapy due to Cancer.

OF COURSE! Not going to make a huge argument, but it is one of those things that needs to happen.

Yes there is nothing wrong with the plant. No doubt it should be legal.

There is nothing wrong with the plant. If you smoke a good amount, 2-4 joints/week it'll be great. I think that the government should make it legal and tax it. It'll make our economy better.

Some people say that marijuana is a gateway drug, the only reason it can be a gateway drug is because they have to get it illegally from dealers, and some dealers have other drugs that they may include. But if it was legal, then it wouldn't be a gateway drug.

I honestly don't have an opinion.

It's good because the government could tax it, but bad because people would abuse it like cigarettes. (Yes, there are SOME negative effects to any type of smoking.) Also, more people would be driving high.

Well, it "shouldn't" be legalized, but we might as well get some more tax dollars with all the other drugs we have out there to buy at whatever store you happen to be closest to..
