Well honestly if you need to change your IP its pretty simple. Just turn off and on your router or connect to a different network. The best way to stay anonymous is via VPN though.

Okay, thanks. I remember Tor from a while back, it never worked for me though, but I'll check it out since I'm sure it's been updated since 2009.

are you talking about changing your IP? or spoofing your IP... cause the two are far from one and the same.

I'd love to be able to spoof it, not just change it, sorry I should've specified.

Theres really only 3 options when it comes to what you are talking about

1. Change IP
2. Hide IP
3. Spoof IP

1. This is easy. You can reboot your router in most cases, or log in and disconnect/reconnect. This physically changes your IP address.

2. Also pretty easy. Connect through proxies, VPN's, and other middle men. Preferably ones that dont log. This just hides your IP and could theoretically be traced depending on settings/precautions/logs/etc.

3. This involves faking the outgoing packets so that they give a false -originating address. This is great if you dont want a response. for example a DDoS attack. For checking your facebook, this is no good. Think of it like phoning a person with caller ID. If you spoof the caller ID someone elses number will show up. This is great if you dont want them to call you back. but if you expect them to call you back, they are going to call whoever's number shows up. Same thing with internet packets. If you send an HTTP server a request with a false IP... its not going to send the response back to you. Its going to send it back to where the packet said it came from.
