Let me introduce myself since i am a newbie here.

I am belgarrion

i have a extensive background in IT, i was MCSE and have worked in WAN and LAN development and implementation. I am now studying programming
in various languages and thought i would be interesting to learn the various ways to hack so i can protect not only my employers better but also for my own knowledge base.

Welcome to HackCommunity! I'm sure you will find lots of knowledge in here, but it will be very hard for you to both learn about hacking and programming at the same time. So I would recommend you to focus on one thing (my choice would be programming) and then study hacking in your spare time.
