I get the feeling people here are not very interested in sharing codes. Why is that?
It belongs to the hackers mindset that things shouldn't be invented twice. Making your stuff open source is part of it.

I often see cool tools/programs, but everytime I ask for code or specific details I seem to hit a wall. Most of the time the question is just ignored.

All of my programs are open source (and free to use for yourself as long as you give credit), so you can ask me questions, give me feedback, take the code as example, learn from it and I want to learn from others as well. I am aware, that there are leechers, but keeping your wisdom for yourself is not a good solution. Is that a community to learn from each other or is it only a community to brag with your tools?

I even would be happy, if only parts of the source are opened or some major concepts are explained.

The leecher problem won't go away anyways. You can do what you want. But you know what you have done by yourself and you can be honestly proud of your work and your knowledge. A leecher is just a looser, living for some attention that he gets online. But you are the one who got the abilities to make this stuff.

How do you think about this?
Are there some programmers here who think the way I do and are actually interested in sharing knowledge?

Exactly, I share my codes. But those topics don't get much replies because I stopped making malwares, undetecting is a very hectic work.
It's always nice to see people's coding style their use of comments, subs, functions, etc.

Please programmers out there, share small tools and programs made by you (and if possible the source too).

I share my code all the time. I just wait until people have gotten bored with my old tools. then I release their code. Make new ones so people stay interested in my tools <3

Yes, plus it also helps out alot of people.
Just like me I'm sometimes interested in the source to see how they did things.

I think it's because some coders, might be scared that other coders improve their tools, without their permission. I don't share source for my programs, only because of my ego. And the same happens to most of my coder friends.

the one thing that I hate about releasing source code is people will remake the UI and release it as theirs. That pisses me off more than anything.

If I were a real coder, I would be more than happy to post the source on most things...If it was something special, I would still release some to show, but not all of it. I dont get why people dont share. Its harder to learn that way.

I don't because its too tedious (in my lazy mind) to update the source link each time I update in general. If someone asks for a source I'll give it, unless its copyrighted like my sources over at powerbot.

There is a solution for this. Create a repository on bitbucket, github, sourceforge or something similar and give a link to that.

I share some of my code, although I've got feeling that most people here generally don't care about more complex things and don't even say anything. On the other hand, when someone posts some bogus snippet, that doesn't even work (well not the way he says it does) he gets a lot of replies.

So I'm asking myself - what's the point of sharing anything here, when most people don't appreciate it? When nobody here seems to even think about things that people post.

However, I also don't share some code and materials of stuff I'm developing, because it could be stolen. And I don't mean some leecher who posts it on his website, but some new technology that I don't have patented yet, or things that I don't intend for learning.

Open Source if fine for some things, but like with anything, forcing it on everything is not good. The question here is though - is the source necessary for learning? Or was the tool even intended for learning or just using? It's okay to ask politely, but not okay to force someone to release the source if he doesn't want to.
