Backtrack 5 64bit install,startx error fix (tut) #1
Ok,I spent like 3 hours installing my own BT 5 64bit cuz of many booting errors... so here is my solution how to get it installed asap...

I suggest you as your first step to make Live to USB...
1) Download BT5 here
2) format your usb to fat32 (Storage of that media must be over 2Gb)
3) Download UNetbootin program here to make any .iso image bootable on USB

Boot backtrack in debug mode...
on the end of boot process you will be able to enter username/password but it ain't be root/toor as deafult,so change user, that will send you in konsole with message like this

when you type " startx " you're going to get error like

To fix that error, you have to type this:

Code:
rm /root/.kde/cache-root/icon-cache.kcache rm /root/.kde/cache-root/plasma_theme_Volatile.kcache rm /root/.kde/cache-bt/icon-cache.kcache rm /root/.kde/cache-bt/plasma_theme_Volatile.kcache

after that type startx...

I saw 1 nice video on youtube to make your BT5 desktops to look cool with every step explained... this one

Offensive security training guide with pdf script (300+ pages) and vids you can download here ...this is just to educate yourself about backtrack and how to become experienced hacker...

that guide cost like 900$ + live training courses, but anyway without courses it's very useful

I hope so this is helpful . . . BiggrinBiggrinBiggrin
