I am needing some guidance (life) 01-18-2011, 06:58 AM

Well, as some of my friends on this site know, I am 16, turning 17 in March here soon (yay!). Life has been rough for me (not a pity thread), and I am tired of having nothing to show for it. This year has been largely successful for me, and I have turned my life around completely. My first two years of high school were a complete drag. I went from a drunk with my knife to my neck contemplating suicide, and have completely changed since then.
I have looked for structure. In 9th grade, I narrowly passed all of my classes on the mark, this was the year I almost offed myself. Last year, I made all A's and B's but I failed my math class. I tried to play Basketball again (I am really good at this sport) but the odds were against me and I quit to focus on more important things. I picked up MMA from past martial art training.
This year, I have gotten a lot smarter. I have been on my all A's, beasting MMA, and I actually starting getting good with girls. (I know right?) I have been getting life planned out for me. My GPA is a 3.1 after last semester (up from a 2.9) and I was told if I made all A's and passed this Math class that the F would go away and I would have a 3.3! If I pass all A's next year, I could be a 3.5 or 3.6, and would be (sadly for the education system) in the top 10 percent of my class (which means I could probably get into UC Berkeley)!
But there has been a lot of setbacks. My moms unstable mental health and credit finally fell out. We have been living off of $628 a month and $130 in foodstamps. Back in August, we almost died in a terrible car accident, but as a result we lost our car. My mom filed for a Chapter 7 (I believe) so we could get rid of $45000 of debt. But we are stable right now.
I am wanting to help out a lot these days, but it has revealed that if anything is going to change, it is 100% in my hands. I want to get a job. Americas job market is absolutely terrible though, and I would have to walk everyday for a month or two to work before getting a vehicle. But my friend's granddad offered to sell me and my mom a 1978 Ford F150 (man is it nice!) for about $1000. It needs new brakes, tires, a drive belt as the old one is cracked, and the radiator is starting to pucker out. I figure from junk yards and from discount parts stores, I can buy the truck and fix it up for about $2400, me being the one fixing it. Then we would have a vehicle and a method to get me to work.
But should I work? This would kill me doing MMA, work and school everyday. What should I do to make the money?

Even if on the slightest you take a smidget
Or dare touch my revenue I slice you with the razor, quit it
Icey till I make it frigid... (BURRRR)...
The laws of physics says it's getting cold...
My money taller than a hall of midgets
