Quick question; do you have mood swings? And if so, what're the time frames?

Quote:Many children go through phases where they are restless or inattentive. This is often completely normal and does not necessarily mean they have ADHD.

However, you should consider raising your concerns with your child's teacher, their school's special educational needs co-ordinator (SENCO) or GP if you think their behaviour may be different to most children their age.

So basically, if your kid is acting normal they might or not have a personality disorder and you should put them on pills and talk to their teachers and have them go through counseling.. And parents fall for this? ADD is real, the hyperactivity part is just a con. My brother has ADD and we were told to put him on drugs to basically let him live a normal life. Sorry but that's what it looks like from a logical and non-subjective angle. My two cents.

@lux: it's not something I can track, that's the problem. It happens irregularly and at random intervals. Started as a phase in my teens, now it's fully developed into very little control over my emotional behaviors.

I see. I've talked to someone who's medicated and diagnosed with a personality disorder. And I can kind of relate to him. The stupidest thing can trigger an episode in me. But I have a fear of doctors so I guess I'll never know.

Doctors can scare me too but I'm around them fairly often as any normal person, to see the dentist or for the annual physical etc., but I know what you mean. A man with a needle, scissors, thread or other utensil is very intimidating.

But thankfully my parents never put me on drugs to "combat" the BPD. It would have seriously changed the way I live my life now. I'm more afraid of thinking about that than I am of my next mood change.

Edit: Going very off topic now.. but PM is open if you have more questions, within reason.

To say that I myself have ADHD I can certainly tell you for a fact that it is not a con. I get random bursts of hyper-activity unlike what anyone else does. My attention span is terrible and if I get bored I get incredibly restless and start messing about. I get random bursts of energy that come out of no where and I start talking about random shit really quick. Ask @lux - I was just rambling to him before we started playing a game.

If you're concerned about a personality disorder, please do have yourself checked out. They can be just as damaging as a physical disease/syndrome/condition, and if not properly treated you will not enjoy life like you should. Thankfully, I've only been diagnosed with insomnia, so I guess I won't have the problems you will/might, but please do get yourself checked out.

GABA is targeted by muscle relaxants, hence the similarities both in effect and addictive profiles.
