Atom IDE goes open source

So for anyone that didn't know, GitHub's Atom IDE has gone open source. Previously it has been in open Beta for macintosh computers, and the only complete application executable (am I using correct terminology? Sorry, not a native english speaker) is still available for OS X. However, with the source code available here it can be patched using either Git Shell, or if not installed, the default powershell/terminal.
Also, to expand, the dev only needs to know JavaScript and CSS, since the IDE bases on the Chromium Atom Shell.

I'd say that it's the simplicity, and how modifiable it is.
It looks quite like aptana studio, and uses some of aptana's functions (like press CTRL + SHIFT + P for console/input thing, whatever they call it)

That was the situation before. Now they've released the source, so you can compile it yourself with next to no effort (on both windows and Linux), especially if you have the github desktop application installed (though it's not required)
