[Debate] Religions #1
If you know who I am, you probably know that I love to debate on topics.

This thread will be for religion, why or why not it's viable, and on specific religions as well.

Here's the format for a good reply:

Code:
"[color=#32CD32]Religion:[/color] @Pyran; Blah blah religion is shit. @Zealotry; niccahs
[color=#32CD32]Christianity:[/color] @Pyran; Christianity is nice and puppies and rainbows
[color=#32CD32]Satanism:[/color] @Everyone; this is the shit"
Basically, share your thoughts, feel free to post replies that DEBATE (not flame) the topic at hand.

If you are of another religion, just add it on to the reply.

--------------------
I'll start off with this:

Religion: I definitely believe in an all-powerful deity. I think they're always watching us, and no matter what name we give them, they'll be the same.
Christianity: I used to be a Christian, and I'll give it two words: Bull - Shit. I don't believe in their God, and I don't think I'll believe unless there's some actual proof.
Satnism: It's my current belief as of now, and I think it's going pretty well. Not as much as I'd like it, but I'm still fairly new to it.

We'll sir i am currently a LaVeyan Satanist. The belief of course that i am my own god, and Satan is a symbol of the man living in its pride. We do not do rituals or practice any or anything that has to do with rituals, so this "offerings" or anything that has to do with rituals I.E : Witchcraft, blood harvest and so on, it's considered to be an aberration from Christianity when of course talking about LaVeyan Satanism. Theistic or Spiritual Satanism is VERY different.

@Ævangelist, Aye sir, theistic satanism is very different. I, myself, am a theistic satanist, since I've always believed in an upper power or God. What's your reasoning for being a LeVeyan?

The thing I do not like about LaVeyan Satanism is the selfishness and greed of its nature.
The thing I do not like about Christianity is their judgmental people. I like a lot of what their Christ says, however.

I am a theistic satanist.

Yes LaVeyan Satanism is all self empowerment therefore making us look selfish and greedy. I admit i am a person who will develop a relationship (Friendship) for self gain. If you don't have anything of use or something i need i won't talk to you. (this is in real life friendship not internet wise)
But that's me. Not all LaVeyan Satanists are that way.

Well, it's a practical way of living. Doing things that are only necessary or for your own gain. It makes sense, but do you get actual friendship out of it? I'm not trying to question it; I'm trying to learn. I can't see how it would let you have a truly social life that you can enjoy with friends.

I have no desire on "friends" i know a lot of people that i hang out with but i don't consider them as friends. I only trust myself and my fiancee.

I guess it makes sense, haha.

I like to have a lot of friends and good relations; it really helps out in life if you ever need a favor or something.

Wow, a lot of Satanists here.

I personally as a Catholic believe in a loose interpretation of the Bible. I could put some examples out there, if anyone wants.

Well, Satanism really isn't what most people think it is. Granted, probably 1% of the satanists out there ARE what people perceive them to be (baby murdering, stealing, thieving assholes), but the other 99% are truly normal people.

In fact, I've met MUCH nicer Satanic people than Christians, and they do a lot of good works as well.

A quick look into Theistic Satanism: This kind of satanism is a religion that bases its actions upon multiple deities, including Satan, the Father. Satan doesn't want you to murder people unjustly and strike down Christians just because they're Christians. However, Satan approves of just action, and if someone deserves it, then so be it.

To be quick and simple about it, Theistic Satanism is like Bhuddism on steroids.

What's your loose interpretation(s)?
