Gangsta Returns in 2026 After An Indefinite Hiatus #1
GANGSTA. IS FINALLY BACK

If you don’t know about GANGSTA., it’s a dark action/crime manga about two Handymen, Nicolas and Worick, who take jobs in a city controlled by gangs, mafia and corruption. It also has the Twilights, people with superhuman abilities who are basically treated like outcasts.

The anime came out in 2015 and was made by Manglobe, but unfortunately the studio went bankrupt around the same time. The manga also ended up going on long hiatuses because of the author Kohske’s health.

So GANGSTA. basically got stuck in limbo for years. But now it’s finally coming back and continuing again. After all this time, we’re finally getting more of the story. Honestly this is one of those series I never expected to see return. If you watched the anime years ago, this is definitely worth getting back into. The anime hasn't continued tho with a new season or episode, but they're recontinuing the manga which brings hope for a potential new season in the year to come.

It's available on Crunchyroll

Or you can watch it for free here

Funnily, my MAL said I watched this 5-6 years ago. I remember it being good, but I actually do not remember the story at all. Will probably watch it again when it returns.

Really misfortunate for the animation company to go bankrupt as well as the author to get several ill at the same time. It's like someone cursed him or something during an important time in his career.

I remember Rei Hiroe suffered also suffered from mental health issues (namely depression), which was one of the reasons Black Lagoon was put on hiatus. Manga is a very rough industry, so they tend to struggle with mental health more than other fields. Often due to the demands of the job.

Being a manga artist or author is very stressful, and they really put their time, craft, and energy into their work because it's their passion and basically apart of their life.
