Someone could also darken the original image so it matches the background, but it might be harder to read or too dark.

You could split could just break it into layers and recolor the background or even make it transparent. If I have a place to send it I might be persuaded to fix it. Either Adobe photoshop or illustrator would be the quickest programs to use.
