I think him dead or in jail are very long shot theories.

The most simple and logical answer is burnout from the SE forum turning into nothing but new users asking the same basic questions. I also heard a rumor he left and went to a private SE forum/group of experienced SE's where he doesn't have to answer a 1000 questions a day from new SE'ers.

He told me once that each post he made on his blog took him hours a day to write and no one on the SE forum bothered to read it, instead they just asked him questions nonstop.

He was obviously very good at SE'ing and has a lot of money in the bank and decided to slow down and enjoy life.

In the 11 years of the forum... I've known a number of members that retired, died, or were arrested. There's been no indicators of death or arrest.

I hope he's alright wherever he is. Staff can be a pretty thankless role and he performed better than anyone else we've had.

Still don't get why hasn't been written a post on the announcements forum thanking him for everything has done to Sinister.ly.

He was a great friend and I will miss him. Perhaps I'm a bit naive, but there's always the possibility we hear from him again... so I don't want to.

I only knew him a few months but we talked quite a bit about his blog and he was so nice.  Even when we would disagree on SE methods he would never get angry or insult you. 
I think he appreciated that I read so many of his blog posts sometimes for hours every night and didn't just message him with basic SE questions that he thoroughly explains on his blog where each post took him hours to write and most people never read or just skimmed it.

There will never be another guy like him in this business we are in.
It just sucks that like so many things we will most likely never know what happened.

But maybe it's better this way.
