I like the Ghost in the Shell Standalone complex series which is scifi / crime. I could kind of get behind the characters a bit as well.
It just depends on what kind of films and TV shows you like normally.

A lot of people like Studio Ghibli, but I didn't enjoy them until I got more into Anime
