not a show but Anne Frank's The Diary of a Young Girl was super emotional- all its tv adaptations too

I went into watching Grave of the Fireflies thinking it would be a cute kids film as it's from Ghibli. I could not have been more wrong. We could have replenished deserts with the amount of tears I cried from that show.

Surprisingly I cant remember any time I've cried from an anime. Might be because I haven't watched enough or haven't watched ones from the right genre. I'll be looking around here for good anime recommendations that could get me to tear up.
