Generative AI in society, the media, reality as a whole? 05-24-2023, 08:37 AM

So AI is becoming mainstream. There's a lot of publicity over it nowadays. The thing is, how long as it been kept secret?
I've noticed with search engines that content has been almost procedural generated for a while. It'll be some random page somewhat relevant to what you talked about, covered in ads. It's been like that for a long time.
AI is nothing new. I've been interested in robotics since a kid. I've followed a lot of Japanese companies and their tech, MIT's technology regarding robots, self driving vehicles, etc. It's been public and mainstream (almost) for over a decade, even 2 decades.
Yet it's still quiet and you don't see it day to day. I went to a McDonald's last year that has a robot that just brings it to tables. It's like a moving table. That's all it does. Still, it's pretty new technology on that side of things.
Now what about generative AI? That's something that builds upon itself. The news is a bunch of BS anyway, and every site has differing opinions of what's real. I mean who's to say what is anymore?
What do you think?
