Unfortunately, this will happen in the future. The more AI is researched and used, the more important it becomes to have people who know exactly how to get what you need from AI. Think of it like modern googling, except that you can get solutions with prompt engineering and don't have to dig through it.
As a prompt engineer it is important to know which results are useful and which are not. This is also the most important point I would say
