You can go on youtube and listen to history documentaries with the sound only no visuals. Don't be on your phone or tv for at least an hour and a half before you go to bed. When you listen to boring documentaries have your phone away from you beacause you're NOT trying to watch it instead only listen to it until you start getting bored and eventually start dozing off. Also, if you apply cannabis to this method it helps optimize it. Just a coulpe tokes before goiing to bed.

Force yourself into going bed without your phone and try falling asleep, it will be horrible for a few days but after that you will start falling asleep way easier while getting much better sleep.
Also don't take any caffein in the afternoon and nicotine 2-3hrs before bedtime, and taking some melatonin 1hr before desired bedtime can help too.
I have also been trough months of suffering because of the same thing, hope my advice was helpful, it all comes down to adjusting your daily & overall health habits.
Your worst fears can come true at any moment.

Melatonin 3mg 1-2 hours before bed seems to work most of the time. THC helps the rest of the time

herbalism my friend
Go with your gut on the ratio <3
Catnip
Wild lettuce
Vervain
Witch hazel
Rosemary
Rue
St. John's wort
Lemon verbena
Poppy
Brew in a coffee press or on a stove, ensuring to strain
Can be sweetened if needs be, but given your circumstance I wouldn't recommend it.
Like me you probably have a sensitive parasympathetic nervous system.
so.....
Blue light filter on electronics
blue light reading glasses
limit sugar intake
cut off caffeine after 3 - 4PM
No screens 1 hour to 30 minutes before bed
invest in earplugs, a sleeping mask, or both.
Good luck and make sure you prioritise solving this. Lack of sleep ends up creating a lot of other issues, and in the long run it's likely to get confused and conflated with a lot of other physical/mental disorders.

Work helps me. As soon as I sit down to work, I immediately want to sleep. Try it)

Smoking weed definitely helps me sleep. Been using that one for a while.
