Quote:The information was released on Chinese website Zhihu and posted via Videocardz and appears to show specifications based on samples provided to Intel partners recently. The new CPUs, including the Core i9-12900K, Core i7-12700K and Core i5-12600K, all feature Hybrid cores, with smaller more power-efficient cores mixing in with larger more powerful high-frequency ones.

This allows the CPU to maintain high performance in lightly to moderately threaded loads with so called 'big Cores' with 'small cores' handling light tasks to improve power consumption and perhaps even helping out in multi-threaded workloads too.

The Core i9-12900K offers eight of each type of core, bringing its total to 16, which is double the current Core i9-11900K flagship. The Core i7-12700K looks set to have 12 cores in total (compared to just eight with the Core i7-11700K) (in an 8/4 core big/small configuration and finally, the Core i5-12900K appears to have 10 cores (compared to six for the Core i5-11600K) in a 6/4 big/small configuration.

im not impressed at all. if they want to make a braggart-processor, atleast flex those puny chinese muscles a bit more.

According to the benchmarks of the 12900KS, it's a 20% improvement on single core and 10% improvement on multi-core. The 13900K will likely perform even better.

It does show Intel is at least trying, but it's been over a year since the 5950X dropped. No doubt AMD will have a response.
Yeah, atleast no more 14nm++++ from intel xD

7nm was originally scheduled for 2021, but they had a defect in the manufacturing process. It being delayed to 2022-2023 means AMD will have a very clear edge until then.

Alder Lake will be on 10nm right? For some reason they decided to call it Intel 7...

well, with more core and thinner chip. It come with a cost. which is higher price than we will anticipated. but fortunately mining did not involve much processor, so we still could be getting normal price instead of spike high price. can't wait to see single core fight between both brands.

Indeed. There's also the whole "big.little" thing.

Here's their roadmap for future CPUs:

Intel announced just a few days ago that they've teamed up with Microsoft for Alder lake.

Alder lake will be comprised of "Performance" and "Efficient" cores. Intel is calling it a 'Performance Hybrid architecture'. When you need performance for things like gaming, Windows 11 will tell Alder lake to use performance cores. And when you're running something less taxing like a browser, Alder lake will use its efficient cores. This supposedly will result in better overall performance, and lower power consumption. Intel hasn't revealed any benchmarks to back that up though.

The OP and article describe that. There's benchmarks on some of the QC models as well.

If this roadmap is true then its gonna be quite exciting the coming years. x86, ARM, RISC-V all making good performance progress the coming years

Can't wait for this. Easily my most anticipated release in years, especially due to the introduction of these E-cores.
