Alibaba Fires Employees Over Sexual Assault #1
With the problems Blizzard had, now Alibaba is following suit.

Quote:Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba Group Holding Ltd (9988.HK) said on Sunday it has suspended several staff following an employee's allegations on the company's intranet that she was sexually assaulted by her boss and a client.

The woman's account, published via an eleven-page PDF that went on to circulate widely online, prompted a social media storm on China's Twitter-like microblogging website Weibo. Police in the city of Jinan said on Sunday morning that they were investigating the incident.

"Alibaba Group has a zero-tolerance policy against sexual misconduct, and ensuring a safe workplace for all our employees is Alibaba's top priority," a spokesperson said in a statement.

"We have suspended relevant parties suspected of violating our policies and values, and have established a special internal task force to investigate the issue and support the ongoing police investigation."

Late on Saturday, a female Alibaba staffer's account of an incident she said took place while on a business trip went viral on Chinese social media, with responses to her account figuring among the top-trending items on Weibo as of Sunday morning.

All for show and all for the gram. I wonder if Alibaba will begin to investigate the conditions of the people manufacturing their products?

These incidents likely transpire a lot more often than is reported as many women feel they will not be believed/cannot acquire victory against potent figures/vocation suicide/ignored by local media/ slut shamed online / family will not be ancillary/etc...

it's sad reality that we live in and tragically women have to face it's consequences just because they are not fully given their rights and respect they deserve.

Unfortunately, they've only been suspended pending an Investigation.

In my locality, acts of this nature Is an Instant dismissal, Irrespective of Internal Inquiries.

Are you meaning they would dismiss all opposition, regardless of proof/context? If so that is awful, I hope to never work where you're from xD

No.

If they have concrete evidence that conclusively substantiates the Incident, It's an Instant dismissal, regardless of pending Inquiries that attempt to prove otherwise.

As it should be, good on them. No use in pussyfooting around with accusations like that.
