Internet Friends/Users Who Disappeared - M00N66 - 08-13-2018
Has anyone here gotten close with an online community and one day it's all gone.
I remember my friends on TF2. I never sent them a friend request on Steam, but there was a server series known as The Vatican City. I would play on the one with the Trade Minecraft Map. I remember joining the game and everyone greeted me. I could be offline for 3 months and get on and still achieve the same result. Recently after 1 year of inactivity, I was the only player in the game. I even remember spending a Christmas Eve on that server. Kinda got me in the feels.

Even worse are entire IRCs going down. Lost a lot of friends and acquaintances.

I've been In the cyber world for a very long time, and have made a lot of friends over the years.
A handful of members are actually active on this board, but most I've completely lost contact. One minute they're posting on a particular board and next thing I know, they've simply vanished without any reason whatsoever.

I feel it's simply them deciding to get some fresh air. Forums aren't exactly at your fingertips like other forms of communication. But when they don't come back it hurts a little bit.

Yes, some either lose Interest altogether or personal commitments Intervene.
I was actively Involved on one particular board for many years. It generated a lot of activity and the founder completely lost Interest and decided to close It down. It hasn't returned, nor has It's owner anywhere on the net.

Well I somehow lost touch with a friend of mine as well.
We kinda met through a game back in 2008 I think, we even met irl @ gamescom back then.
Some years passed by (2017 I think), we both played different games at that time and somehow there was no contact anymore and soon after that he vanished.
Good old times, kinda miss them
