Is my CPU going to explode? - M00N66 - 08-07-2018

I have an 8th gen i7 and I've been playing this game. It's at 60fps and all but uhh I sometimes hit 100°C. Is that dangerous for my CPU?

Intel says for the i7-8700k it can go upto 100c so i really wouldn't bet on it at all but its pushing it, you can always call Intel and see if they will replace it with the warranty but maybe here we can see what the problem could be before we take it there. BTW What cooler do you use? Whats the specific model of your 8th gen cpu? What software do you use to monitor temperature?

Man the fire extinguisher. You're rocking water boiling temps there. Get a better heat sink and fan?

Ah, i see for instance i have used HW software in the past and it displays my CPU temp incorrectly.. You can buy these pads online that have 6 fans that blow up into the bottom of your laptop my friend says they work very well he uses it for his i7700HQ laptop, other than than that a good option would be to contact Intel and see what they say since it's a new laptop.

I actually use something like that too. Mostly for an old laptop that I don't know how to clean without breaking it. I've been cautioned to be careful with which laptop fan stand I use as the positioning of the fans/laptop vents can mess up the airflow and cause more overheating. I couldn't tell you whether that's true or not, as I know little about it - But, I figured I'd mention it.

Although... if it's a brand new laptop, then perhaps it's worth questioning with Dell.

I called Dell, Generic Bugandi mfer connected to my laptop. APPAAREENTLY the Thermal Framework Driver Uninstalled Itself. Which honestly probably wasn't a big contributor. However it made me feel stupid. So probably gonna buy a pad.

100c ? It shouldnt even be at at that temp. Thermal shutoff should kick in.

Is the machine custom built I'd support?
