Too many people come here asking where to start, and even more tell them to google it...
I want to help just end the whole "where to start" thing, however I'm not gonna hold your hand...
This is not a tutorial, and does not cover everything to do with hacking. This is not a guide to 1337...
This is just a list of things to do. This list is beginner friendly, and most of it can be done on Windows. By the time you have studied everything in this list, you will have a good understanding on how hacking works, and probably learned a shit-ton more just from links....

I'd say Cain & Abel Is my favorite.
I've been using It for many years to date, and It's probably one of the most user-friendly tools In It's class. And who hasn't come across HackThisSite, some nice memories there.

These are definitely helpful tools. I have a few of them and i use them for security purposes. The best person to hack is yourself, you're never going to get into trouble.
