Just A Matter Of Time Until Planes Are Hacked - mothered - 06-19-2018

Greetings to all,

In terms of overall security In the United States, It doesn't get much better than Homeland Security- who claim that an airline can be compromised remotely as per the attack vector outlined below.

Quote:It's "a matter of time" until hackers breach a commercial airliner, according to a report from cybersecurity experts at the Department of Homeland Security.

The DHS explored weaknesses in a Boeing 757's cybersecurity by trying to enter through the plane's WiFi, onboard entertainment system and USB ports. It took them two days to remotely hack into the plane.

I wouldn't put It passed It.

What the fuck has this world turn in to. The thing is, I have to work my arse of to find this shit before someone else does and treats it unethically.

The Pitbull/Shakira theory is the funniest.

Certainly so.

This is a crazy old post which is why I felt it interesting to note, 7 years later things haven't improved much. Crazy right...
The hacks above have mostly been fixed as far as I'm aware but varies from airline to airline..
Truly terrifying part is the chaos one can potential cause with consumer radio tx/rx tools. Depending on country these aren't flagged at security and in all the flights I have taken have only once been questioned about it. The real kicker is if you dont get one onboard as carry on, no sweat, you can connect to the ones you have in checked baggage. Honestly I'm surprised nothing terrible hasn't already happened..

It's definitely concerning to see how little progress has been made in some areas over the years. The fact that many of the hacks have been fixed, but not universally, highlights the inconsistencies in airline security measures. It's alarming to think about the potential risks that consumer radio tools could pose, especially when they often go unchecked. The fact that you've only been questioned about it once is quite revealing. It really emphasizes the need for more robust and uniform security protocols across the board. Let's hope that more attention is given to these vulnerabilities before something serious happens.
