Indonesia gives Facebook One Week To Provide Info On Data Breach - mothered - 04-21-2018
Greetings to all,
Indonesia Is now demanding Facebook respond to the data breach of over one million of Its citizens. I can see Facebook's Issues becoming a lot worse before It begins to show signs of Improvement.
Quote:Indonesia has given Facebook a week to provide more information on how personal data of about one million of its citizens was misused and on the steps the company is taking to prevent such breaches, the country’s communications ministry said.
A Facebook official apologized to Indonesian members of parliament this week at a public hearing, where the company said that 1,096,666 people in the country may have had their data shared, or 1.26 percent of the global total.

This wouldn't surprise me.
Google does provide a gateway to almost everything we request access to. Consider The Pirate Bay for a moment- they've been subjected to years of litigation due to providing access to copyright material. Yet Google provides the gateway to access TPB, however they (Google) are In the clear. The latest happenings with Facebook, may just open a new door of data breaches for Google.

Google does provide a gateway to almost everything we request access to. Consider The Pirate Bay for a moment- they've been subjected to years of litigation due to providing access to copyright material. Yet Google provides the gateway to access TPB, however they (Google) are In the clear. The latest happenings with Facebook, may just open a new door of data breaches for Google.
That's an interesting line of thought. I think we're going to be hearing a lot more about this from now on.

I cannot fathom why Google Is not prosecuted to some degree for providing access to Illegal content. If I created a search engine to directly access popular torrent sites, I'd be busy organizing my conjugal visits for the next 10 years.

Agree.
When you have the funds and resources as with Google, a lot of corporations tend to turn a blind eye. Money rules when companies are paid ex-amount of dollars to silence their actions.

Money and blackmailing can get you pretty far. Maybe not blackmailing like we see it as most criminals do but I certainly think Google can pull lots of strings, political ones and corporate ones as well. Money can almost buy you everything.

I definitely agree with your comment on Google. A company on that scale, can just about buy themselves out of anything.

I think Facebook will be a milestone example for other corporations. They should care not only about their money but also about people`s privacy.
