123movies May Face Closure - mothered - 03-17-2018

Greetings to all,

The thread's title says It all. It's not yet clear whether 123movies will be shutdown In the very near future, but the news doesn't look good.

Quote:THE fight on illegal streaming continues as one of the world's most popular sites facing closure in tough new crackdown. And after a recent discussion in the US even president Donald Trump has got involved saying: “The U.S. is acting swiftly on Intellectual Property theft.
"We cannot allow this to happen as it has for many years!

"Right now, the most popular illegal site in the world, 123movies.to (at this point), is operated from Vietnam, and has 98 million visitors a month," It's unclear if this site is now being closed down but pressure is clearly growing on those that stream content illegally.

I'm not surprised really. It has been up and running for a very long time, and it does get a substantial amount of visitors. I'm surprised it wasn't taken down ages ago.

It certainly has an extreme amount of traffic.

As with other similar sites, It's only a matter of time before the law catches up with them.

This is also news on TF.

Seems that the US is starting a manhunt on the site operator.

As a recommendation the admin should have use Cloudflare configuration to hide the true location of the servers like TPB is doing.

Doesn't really surprise me at all. It does suck though, even though I've never used it. I feel like we wont always have a way to stream movies for free, it will get to the point where we will have to use either places like Netflix, or just pirate them ourselves.

It's certainly convenient, whereby It does not require registration. All It takes Is a few clicks of the mouse to watch a given movie.

There's heaps of clones going around. Enter "123movies" and there's quite a few to choose from. The moment one goes down, another five go up.
