Destiny 2 Receiving "Free Trial" Version - Oni - 11-28-2017

Destiny 2 will be receiving a "Free Trial" version today, which will allow potential buyers to play ~20% of the campaign and reach level 7. Happy to help any Sinisterly members, if they plan to try the game out.

Quote:Destiny 2’s free trial will include two of the game’s destinations: the European Dead Zone (EDZ) on Earth and the moon Titan. Players will also be able to visit the Farm social space.

Players will have access to campaign missions and adventures set on the EDZ and Titan during the free trial. Players can also partake in competitive multiplayer in the Crucible, though they will be restricted to quickplay playlists. They can also join a clan and earn clan experience. Destiny 2’s free trial will let players advance to level 7, and their progress will carry over to the full game, if they purchase it.

When/what are you referring to?

How about the 30fps scandal, the recent XP scandal, or the really big ones like shaders and how they are handling micro transactions. I am sure as they gather more people from their free trial and more issues will arise. I was a massive Bungie fan, hell I bought crazy expensive halo crap, but they are getting greedier and greedier and it has been showing since D2 went live.

To be honest, none of those issues afflicted me. The 30 FPS on consoles seems to be the biggest issue, but I play on PC. The XP issue was a little complex, as before the update XP was weighted based on your activity. Now all activities give less XP, but the weighting has been eliminated. This could be good, depending what activities you do.

I didn't see the shaders or micro-transactions as a problem, as anyone that's done raids or faction rallies will tell you that they've gotten more shaders than they need. I had enough to fully outfit 3 characters, with plenty left over. 30 FPS for consoles, decreased XP, and shaders/micro-transactions aren't the best - but they're definitely not game-breaking.

I feel like criticisms are extremely overloaded. Removing content previously available is dumb, I agree. There should be two version of access that contribute to pre-expansion and post. Maybe a diff in level of hear awarded or whatever.
That'd be my only real complaint. In-game transactions are dumb complaints (sorry but welcome to the world of making money). Thus far, I've loved it. Found no other fault, yet, at least.

Bright engrams aren't really pay to win, as they're only cosmetic in nature (and you get them really often). The main thing about the DLC is that players will be locked out of the Prestige Nightfalls/Raids. People can still do the regular Nightfalls/Raids (same loot, same mechanics). Even if I hadn't been given a Season Pass, I doubt it'd be a dealbreaker for me. I'm not a Bungie employee or anything, I'm just saying I've had fun and the issues aren't that bad.

It seems like Reddit has gone pretty wild over everything. Most of the gripes seem to be regarding the XP/cash-based Bright Engrams, DLC changes, and minor bugs. None of it is as game-breaking as people are advertising. Perhaps I'm just unaffected, although nothing stops people from hitting 305 or doing raids (if they bought the base-game). One thing Bungie did mess up on royally was the Prometheus Lens, which has made PVP a hilarious shitshow this week.

They've just announced they're undoing most of the changes that negatively impact people without DLC:
