Mining rig made from smartphones - al68 - 11-01-2017 What do you guys think about this idea? Looks interesting, even if I'm not a pro at BTC mining. Samsung turned 40 Galaxy S5s into a Bitcoin mining rig Samsung’s C-Lab, an engineering team that focuses on creative projects, is heading up the venture. Their headlining project at Samsung’s recent developer conference was a 40-stack of Samsung Galaxy S5s turned into a Bitcoin mining rig. Not only were the phones able to mine Bitcoins, they were able to do it more efficiently than a desktop computer. In fact, eight Galaxy S5s can mine more efficiently than a computer with an Intel Core i7 2600. ![]() More: https://www.androidauthority.com/samsung-bitcoin-mining-rig-810977/ RE: Mining rig made from smartphones - Drako - 11-03-2017 Personally I don't believe this could be efficient enough at the moment. Possibly in the future handheld technology could become powerful enough to handle the heat and other 'stresses' systems face when BTC mining. RE: Mining rig made from smartphones - Bish0pQ - 11-08-2017 Since this would probably mine with CPU, I don't think it would beat a decent GPU, also this would probably heat up the devices a lot and these phones would probably break soon. I highly doubt you can even get out of costs with this. RE: Mining rig made from smartphones - naxx99 - 01-02-2018 What? A smartphone can mine? Still haven't heard of it, but It looks promising (kinda) I'm skeptical about mobile performance RE: Mining rig made from smartphones - al68 - 01-03-2018 of course it can, why not?. But as Bish0pQ said, will mine with CPU... RE: Mining rig made from smartphones - Elf - 01-03-2018 Don't ever mine BTC expecially with a phone, apparently a $800 phone can pull 20h/s well you can get th same from a cheap build. 50 phones = 1k pc Dont even try and just ruin a perfectly fine phone. RE: Mining rig made from smartphones - mothered - 01-03-2018 They shouldn't make this statement If they're comparing It to a 6 year old CPU. The phones will break nothing more to it RE: Mining rig made from smartphones - al68 - 01-04-2018 I wanted to show the idea of reusing the smartphones, not the technical details. It's just a prototype, can be used in other means, not necessary mining. I think we all agree that most of the people change their phones after a year and a half or so, even if they can be easily reused. I think they should be reused in other ways, and this one, even if it's not perfect, it's a start, better than nothing ![]() RE: Mining rig made from smartphones - mothered - 01-05-2018 (01-04-2018, 12:07 PM)al68 Wrote: I wanted to show the idea of reusing the smartphones, not the technical details. And rightly so. Take the above comments as constructive criticism. |
