Social engineering section suggestion - Slacker - 10-25-2017

Well yesterday I snapped out on an Amazon skid. I feel it was deserved, I mean who the fuck orders 7 items and tries to refund six, could I have worded it differently? Yeah I could have but I am tired of kids joining here and spam posting topics that have been covered fifty times, but beyond that I feel the se section needs a over haul.

I like bullet points, so here are some suggestions lol:

°Mod of section needs to be educated in the TRUE ART OF SE! (it would be like putting me in charge of a few hacking sections, not knowing shit I wouldn't be able to decipher between useful and ignorant post)

°Require SE of Amazon to be an upgraded section. Require a certain post count, upgrade level and account age to access it. Before allowing people to enter the subs require a verification to ensure they've contributed to actual social engineering before allowing them access to that sub... I cringed so fucking hard calling this a SE just FYI Sad

I do not mean remove it all together, but make it a privlidge to use the Amazon subs. This will not only eliminate shit post about it (since they will become active in the section by the time they are able to enter subs they'll have knowledge to cover questions.)

You changed this forum a few years back @Oni
You did this to have a better public name and welcome other members in to our family that have other experiences or specialties...

Sadly you know as well as I do, being too results of a Google search for how to steal from Amazon is not what you want nor us.

@Skullmeat my initial thinking was to be a complete prick to you today over your "he threw a fit and left" comment, instead I'm going to inform you I left cause I know if I didn't out and I would be bickering back and forth, and I would still be telling these Amazon kids off, not because I threw a fit.

But I will be taking a break for a while as I do not feel like dealing with Amazon kids anymore i have put years of hands on pratice into developing my skills as a true social engineer and three kids using that phrase for what they do is not only ignorant but am honestly insulted.

Have a good day ladies and gentleman. Stay in touch via discord @slacker#1455

@Oni let me know via discord if any of these changes are implemented or if you would like help figuring out a solution to your Amazon kid situation Smile

The forum hasn't changed and our rules have stayed pretty consistent. There's always going to be silly threads regarding Amazon and you have the ability to scroll past and ignore them. We've never taken a stance against these threads, but we've always had rules about respecting others. Making rude comments in threads you don't like is a sign of immaturity. This isn't a community for elitists and everyone starts somewhere. The Amazon threads are an example of Social Engineering, no matter how simple the concept is.

On the topic of you being disrespectful to @Skullmeat. He's just doing his job, as am I. You've no right to insult someone that's voluntarily helping the forum (alcohol or not), even in the event they make a mistake. In this case, he was following my exact directions, and you ignored him entirely. Why a grown man isn't able to follow directions or ignore silly threads, is beyond me. There's plenty of threads I disagree with or dislike, but I still follow the rules we have set in place.

The idea of excluding others in a section that regular members have already contributed in, isn't in the forum's best interest.

RE: Social engineering section suggestion - Jiggly - 10-26-2017

I can understand your frustration with these threads. However, making the content exclusive isn't going to motivate people to be better. It will simply mean they ask questions in the wrong sections or on the discord - since they have nowhere else to go. A lot of these ideas are good on paper, but from years of experience on the forum, we have an idea of how people respond to changes.
The forum in and of itself never changed its purpose. The member-base simply expanded and evolved.

As to a solution - Make new threads. Draw the conversation in a different direction. Redirect interest of new people to those higher skill pieces, for example - "Why not try [x] instead so you can learn some true SE? We have tutorials on [x] and [x]". Regardless of your feelings or frustration, it's a sign of emotional intelligence when you can deal with a situation without flaming, breaking forum rules and ignoring staff.

I enjoy you being on SL and like your conversations in discord etc, so it would really disappoint me to see you leave (temporarily or not) over something so minute. There are better ways to deal with this. If you were 12 or 13 I would understand the reaction, but you're not.
