Made this awhile back and wanted some feedback on it

This was nicely done. However the lighting may need a little work. This is an old Sig though so I'm sure you have improved over time.

It's actually quite striking.

What program did you use? As with most designers, probably Photoshop.

I use photoshop cs5 and cs6

Almost every designer I know uses Photoshop.

That said, my work use Adobe Illustrator. I'm not Into GFX (I only crack the programs, not use them), so I'm Interested to know which of the two Is better and why.

Photoshop is great for editing pictures or raster-based stuff. Illustrator is better for logos or vector-based stuff. Our header BGs were edited in Photoshop, but our logo was made in Illustrator.
