Hackers Selling Medicare Details. - mothered - 07-05-2017 Greetings everyone, This explains It all: Quote:HACKERS are selling the Medicare card numbers of Australians on the ‘dark web’, which experts say could be used to steal your private health records. Now In my views, It's not only the Medicare records that are at risk, but depending on the nature of personal Information available, Identities can also be assumed and built from the ground up. Not to mention (when all credentials have been obtained), credit card purchases and any other online transactions. Imagine browsing the Dweb and coming across your own Medicare details. RE: Hackers Selling Medicare Details. - mothered - 07-05-2017 (07-05-2017, 09:32 AM)Aeolian Wrote: Well damn.. Yes, that's quite a concern. We can take all precautionary measures to keep our credentials safe but as I've always mentioned, "how safe Is your Information with a given entity?". And then you have to consider subsequent credentials exposed that are not "directly" related to the Individual. For example If a school/university was compromised, for emergency purposes of their students, most require a "next of kin". If (for example) the father's details were provided as next of kin, then at the minimum his full name, phone number and date of birth will be stored. Not to mention his place of employment, work contact and email address. As such, say goodbye to his Identity as well. |
