USB Micro to DC - Ecks - 05-23-2017

I like many others dumpster dive and very commonly I come across tossed electronics with a broken USB Micro port.
After cursing and complaining about fat fingers while trying to re-solder these pieces back on (many have bad/missing pins)
So  what to do when these rechargeable devices that still work simply can not have a repaired USB Micro, Simple we wire it up.

What you will need to do this simple conversion is a handy pin layout.

a USB Micro to either USB cord or DC unit (basically a phones wall charger will work)

some solder and a soldering iron/gun.

Now using our guide we simply open up the device and chop off the USB Micro end of your selected cord.
We will then refer back to the guide and we will be using the 1 and 5 pin and red and black wires.
Now the fun, grab your favorite soldering iron and solder and simply solder these connections in their place.
Allow everything to cool, put the device back together (you may need to poke a hole before soldering wires in place so they have a spot) and plug in.
WA LA you now took some garbage and turned it into a functional device that you can sell or keep.
P.S. Most of these devices use a simple rechargeable LI-ION that should have a built in heat/surge protector, if it doesn't do not leave the device plugged in as it might explode.

Thank you for the share. This may come in handy one day if my own USB devices were to be damaged. I have fat fingers as well so I know the struggles.

I have never been good with electronic devices and schematics, but this can be very usefull for me. Bookmarked this, I'm sure this will come in handy one day.
