Rules page overhaul - Inori - 05-11-2017
With the influx of new members and changes in the meta of SL's community, the rules page (and help section altogether) is in dire need of an update. The information given is still valid (although not very explicit) for the most part, but there's a lot missing info that could save both new members and staff quite a bit of trouble (e.g. more info on gravedigging, expand explanations of disallowed content, etc...).
As a side note, would it be a bad idea to redirect new members to the rules page after registration? I feel as though most new users don't bother reading it or even visiting the page.

I think this might be a very good idea. It good really use an update. Even though by most introductions someone says they should read the rules, I highly doubt they read it.
Maybe they should be redirected to a page where they can read the rules, after that some random short questions to make sure they read the rules. Or would that be too much?

I suspect a quiz might be a bit much. But, I do like the sound of a redirect. If anything, that improves user accountability when it comes to breaking rules.
I can understand the want for updating gravedigging. We have threads that explain in greater detail, but I believe that information has not been transferred over. Ultimately, this falls on @Oni to update, so I'll pass this onto him directly to get his thoughts.

More of a design suggestion, but as a new member I remember finding it slightly difficult to locate the rules page. It may not be immediately obvious (especially to those of whom English is not the first language) that rules are located under "Help -> Rules". Maybe making a link to the Rules to display more prominently on the forum (in the top bar) would help encourage new members to read them?
I've always thought of "Help" as technical support/"Help! How do I post?" rather than "What should I know so so I don't piss anyone off?"

This Is what I've mentioned many times over- there's no elaboration as to what Is/Is not classed as grave digging.
Given the rules section Is the first port of call for most newly-registered users, they (the rules) must be clearly defined and detailed accordingly.
You have my support on this.

If you have more suggestions (i.e. info on gravedigging/disallowed content), feel free to share. Some rules aren't entirely explicit as some are for staff to interpret.

@Jiggly it wouldn't have to be an enitre quiz. Like if there would be 1 or 2 questions, that are VERY obvious stated in the rules, and they fail to answer that they would be on some kind of "watch list" for the mods (not trying to increase the work for the mods, just trying to improve the quality of the forum).
I'd totally understand if it would be too much though. Just saying what pops up in my head.

If the "3 months since the last post" rule on grave digging can be documented, It'll not only provide members with a clear understanding, but It'll leave nothing to chance when a member grave digs and tires to defend his/her actions.
