Try to find some critical vulnerability on facebook and may be you will be able to dump database then may be you will find the HASH(or clear text pass?) => Log in victim account
When you finish this scenario you can report this critical vuln to the facebook and you will receive bounty ~10k or more
Result:
Hacked account and good bounty.

It's used as troll question so much it's impossible to say if it's serious. As addition to said methods I'd add credentials reuse from sites already hacked.

I'd say It's safe to assume It Is serious, I just can't fathom why (to this day) It's still widely asked/requested.
You're correct pertaining to compromised credentials. I have heaps (stored In plain text) from websites that I've exploited.
