A Canadian court has awarded a former Burger King cook $46,000 ($35,000 USD, £28,000) in damages after she was fired for taking home a fish sandwich, fries and beverage.

What's your thoughts on this? I personally think good on her, fuck that guy.  I am happy too see his stinginess for 50 cents cost him 46k, that's gotta hurt.

Companies of this magnitude, think they can do what they like to their workers and get away with It.

I'm glad she was awarded compensation. You'll be amazed at just how much food Is "thrown out" daily, yet they fired her for a measly 50c worth.

Yeah it was nice of them to reward her with that compensation as she's 55 and probably not going to be getting another job.

Agree.

I'm totally against unfair dismissals (that's exactly what this was). I've seen It happen far too many times and upon reading this thread, It's a sense of satisfaction that the court ruled In favor of the employee.

They fired her over taking food she had permission to take? What?

I'd say there probably would've been some loophole In all employee's contracts (some ridiculous fine print), and they based her dismissal on whatever grounds were defined.

It's fantastic that the court ruled In her favor.
