The hell is going on with my computers? - loading... - 01-24-2017

Alright so i'll probably sound insane but oh well.

So I have this old HP computer that I occasionally use but most of the time I use my laptop.

Now i'm not sure how to explain this but i'll try my best.

Whenever i'm doing something HDD intensive on my laptop, the HDD on my HP goes wild. You can hear it spinning like a beast, meanwhile the HDD on my laptop hardly makes a noise. This happens all the time when i'm doing something like that on my laptop.

The two systems are not connected in anyway. In fact, the HP doesn't even have a wireless card anymore so I know for a fact it's not connected to any network.

I don't know if there's some wizardry going on here, or some crazy coincidence but it's freaking me out. It's been doing this for over a year now, I just kind of never thought anything of it until a friend recently noticed it as well and was flipping out.

Any ideas?

Replace your HDD with an SSD would fix the issue. They don't have moving parts so you wouldn't be able to hear it. If you do hear it though, than there is indeed a wizard living in your computer.

Your hard drive on desktop may ending it's lifespan soon. I really reccomend backing up any important files that are on that desktop.

It does sound like your drive is about to die. Although, that is a pretty strange happening. Considering you say its been going on for about a year, that is actually very odd.

That's certainly out of the ordinary.

Format your HP (with whatever OS you're using), and only Install the drivers and nothing else. Do not even connect to the net. Judging by the Information you've provided, I highly doubt both systems are Interconnected, and they won't be thereafter. Checkout the HDD usage via Task Manager and most Importantly, see whether It's still spinning/making noise at an unacceptable level.

If It's making somewhat of a grinding noise, as others have mentioned, your HDD may be on It's way.

Agree, that can be the case.

Due to the number of tasks (background Inclusive) running simultaneously, my older lappies are almost always peaking close to 100% disk usage. The Read/Write operations just about come to a crawl. However what's of concern In this case, Is the noise from the HDD. Even when It's maxing out, It shouldn't trigger any noise consistent with what the OP described.

Here's a quickie blowjob guide to what you need to do.

- Back up your shit ASAP (HDD could be preparing to buy an elephant and a jet engine for the sole purpose of shit hitting the fan)
- Clean that fucker out. Do a good job, don't break shit.
- If problem persists, format, and follow mothered's instructions.
- If problem is still there?

fucking wizards.

Run.

Prob the drive. My guess its either reallocated sectors or retry attempts. Backup your data.
