Are you tired of annoying Spotify advertisements slowing the fuck out of your computer, interrupting your music, and making you want to throw a fucking fleshlight at your screen? I know I sure was until I figured out a way to block them. In this guide, I will be explaining all of the current ways possible to remove Spotify advertisements across multiple platforms. This works for the Windows,, OSX, Linux, and iOS version of Spotify. Audio ads may appear here and there but as of now on my end, they seem to have vanished. Let's cut to the chase and help you remove those annoying ads..

Spoiler: Method 1 - hosts file
[this will work for any device as long as you're able to access its hosts file. edit this with notepad++ or your preferred text editor.---on windows, hit the windows key + r and pasteC:\Windows\System32\Drivers\etc\hostsor on osx, open up the finder and paste:/private/etc/hosts nobody nor I has figured out a way to remove the spotify ad/banner placeholder so you'll have to deal with that being there. it's not that much of a distraction anyway.

The hosts file is a way to block access to certain sites/domains. And the way Spotify serves their ads are through multiple ad servers and to block these, you'll have to add the following to your hosts file:
In addition, feel free to add this list to your hosts file which is a simple and effective way to protect you against spyware, adware, site traps, and other advertisements you may be evident to: http://someonewhocares.org/hosts/

this is all you need to do to block spotify banner advertisements. see the next method for removing audio advertisements.
Spoiler: Method 2 - adding a range of IP's in your firewall
on windows, you will need to open up windows firewall and block the following list and range of ip's. to learn how to do that, look here:http://www.ghacks.net/2014/02/17/block-ip-ranges-windows-firewall/
following that tutorial, proceed to add the list of ip's below:
Adding the following range of IP's in your firewall will remove all of the audio advertisements. This has been personally tested by myself on the Windows version of Spotify. I have been listening to a whole playlist of music for around an hour now and I've came across zero audio advertisements: keep in mind, the ones with a dash between them are ranges. make sure to paste them like this: http://i.imgur.com/kJO4bJ1.png
restart spotify and if all is done correctly, all audio advertisements should now be gone.
