I'd probably say our intelligence and ability to learn. Just think we've learnt to survive god knows how many years and if it wasn't for that, we wouldn't be here today.

Adaptation.
Because with adaptation we learn, and adapation is an education within itself because from birth we teach ourselves according to our surroundings and influences (like the languages our peers speak, other human behaviour etc).
So we adapt to the fact we have to seek intelligence, and advance from thereon.
