What makes a forum a good forum? - guest_mybb_import25663 - 06-03-2016

I'd just like to get an idea what you guys think makes a successful forum a successful forum. What are some must-have traits that the admins should have?

The first thing I take a look for on a new forum is the plugins to see what the admin's got going on. I don't really think the theme has anything to do with the quality of a decent forum. Anyone can have a theme made but not everyone has the experience to run a community. The way moderators interact with members is important and if I see a friendly relationship between the staff and a community it's a positive vibe. Finally, a friendly community always keeps me around. I think forums should be heavily moderated to keep spam and low quality members out.

Leave your remarks and answer the questions above Smile

I don't care about plugins, but if admins work on things like responsive design it tells me they're good. Friendly community engages me too.

Honestly i don't care much for the theme etc but if the community is solid and friendly i can stay a part of said forum for a very long time.

I like a forum with creativity, intelligence and knowledge in particular forums. Professionalism is key and being different from the rest even in small ways can be important. I think the most important trait of an online forum is to have good quality discussion. People will visit your forum if you have what they're looking for.

A community that isn't shit, like elitests who think they control a forum. And constant features or updates on the forum so there is always something new to do

So many great opinions! A strong, high quality community put together is unbreakable.

  • Knowledgeable administration team
  • Interactive (and welcoming) community
  • Unique, and clean design.
  • Active (obviously)
  • Updated (bi-weekly)

Well maybe an apache helicopter could break it, cause you know, guns and missiles.

But yea, the community is one reason I stay on this forum over other more popular but shitty communities.
