This may come off as rude, but are you becoming blind with age? Because this is how I look at it;

Yea default sizing gives this and zooming in is required.

Awesome work, it's too dark and bland for my liking.

Its a redesign though, not a re-imagining of the original work. Meaning in short, that it was suppose to look as much alike the old one as I could, without what I view as "bad" in it.

I like the header color and the theme in general! It looks really clean and sleek, I like the simple-yet-amazing look in it.
It'd be nice of you if he liked it and you gave him the PSD to this one.
