Was 2011/2012 The Renaissance of anime? - Skullmeat - 09-18-2016
I've watched alot of anime, and the more I watch, the more I've come to make an odd correlation/discovery. Most of my all time favorites are from the years of 2011-2012... With great animation, plots, and characters I wondered what it was about these two years that have so many great animes. So do you think that 2011/2012 was the Renaissance of anime? What have you seen from these two years that you loved?

I never actually realised that. Seems like a very interesting concept. Actually, I've watched a few of those shows too. I wonder if more shows from those years fit the concept of an anime renaissance. For those not familiar with the meaning of renaissance - I suppose it means the rebirth of anime in this context. Correct me if I'm wrong, Skullmeat.

From what I can see, it is not the years what matter but the genres of the anime; I've watched most of them there and most of them can be categorised similarly; but yes, I can honestly agree with The Renaissance of Anime. Modern day Anime, from what I can tell, sides more to the futuristic side and is more fantasy-like than the older day Anime, which was mostly conspiracy based or horror based. The older Anime usually had something to do with dark(ness), now-a-days you'll find happy-ish Anime such as Re:life. Honestly, regardless of what genre or type the Anime is, I would most likely enjoy it. If a manga was ever turned into an Anime, then it should have a specific audience, never would an Anime be made for no reason.
