This may very well be a bad thing; ICANN & UN - Wildfire - 08-30-2016 The United Nations may get control of ICANN. This may a bad thing with censorship and all. Article: http://regated.com/2016/08/oct-1-obama-gives-un-power-internet/ Quote:The Obama White House will allow bylaws to expire that hand internet power to global parties. The internet is tied to ICANN because ICANN is an American-controlled organization. ICANN has certain antitrust exemptions under the US Commerce Department. After October 1, the contract securing antitrust exemption expires. 8Chan Thread: https://8ch.net/pol/res/7300306.html#7300306 This honestly could be terrible, Obama has made no effort to renew it and our right-to-shitpost-about-offensive-topics could be affected, possibly. What I'm concerned about is: -Tor being fucked with outright -"Sensitive" content being filtered -DMCA laws reloaded for copyright, but with harder punishment and at the ICANN level RE: This may very well be a bad thing; ICANN & UN - sleaze - 08-31-2016 (08-31-2016, 12:11 AM)Axi Wrote:(08-30-2016, 08:43 PM)sleaze Wrote: Saw this a few days ago, bad shit. Copyright law is also becoming more and more of a threat as well, but people will find ways to share regardless. And of course, people will develop I2P into a more simpler platform, if that ever becomes the case. |
