Rejected Art. - Emmonosis - 08-17-2016 So for the past two days I've been talking to this guy who owns a clothing line and is looking to hire new graphic designers. He tells me to show him what I got and so I sent him my portfolio and make a design specifically for the brand just to show what I can do. I mostly design logos but thought I'd give it a shot anyway. The company is called "Rising Royalty" I checked out their site and instagram to see what type of designs they had to see the style and so I can kind of tailor the design to fit their style. (1st design) He said he didnt like that design and to do something more minimalistic looking. So I was like ehh might as well give it another shot. (2nd design) I then sent him this one thinking this is as minimalistic as I can go while still going with the theme of his brand. any more minimalistic it would have been a logo or just text. Still haven't heard back yet since we are in different time zones but whether they like them or not I like them and I guess it'll just be another thing I can add to my portfolio. What do you guys think? just curious. RE: Rejected Art. - Oni - 08-17-2016 The first one was rough. The second might not reflect his brand. RE: Rejected Art. - Jiggly - 08-17-2016 The first one feels like it needs some tweaking to make it flow better. The edge quality for the crown is totally different from the other features in the image. It looks like it has pretty good potential though. The two Rs in the middle have very thin white outlines around the shape, whereas the crown has massive thick white outlines around a very thick black outline. I think this has something to do with the flow of the image being broken up. The colours look fine. You could also try removing the black sections inside the crown (are they representing the curve of the crown?). These sections are very thick and chunky in comparison to the detail of the splats in the background. Try removing those two shapes in the crown and enlarge the Rs in the middle. Let me know if you give this a go - I'd love to see whether it works. RE: Rejected Art. - superMAUS - 08-17-2016 the issue with the second one is there is no visual focus to the image. If you had for instance, a crown atop the pack of money this would break this. instead though the whole image repeats itself. unsure if I conveyed that properly. RE: Rejected Art. - Customer - 08-17-2016 Even though the first one looks a little bad, I think it's still the route to go, just clean it up a little. Don't gradient the crown, remove background splatters, and remake the RR. You should be good. RE: Rejected Art. - Wildfire - 08-17-2016 Agreeing with everyone else here, the first one is good but it just needs a bit of a cleanup. RE: Rejected Art. - pvnk - 08-17-2016 Neither designs appeal to me because the design is way too bold for me. I understand that everyone has different conceptions of what looks good so I'm just giving you my opinion. |
